9TH WEEK OF 4TH QUARTER

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Senior Projects:  If you do not have to take finals, you will need to turn in your game to me as well as your teacher.  I will check with your teacher to make sure that they received your game CD.  If you are taking the final, you will present on Thursday, May 15,

Junior Projects:  Your projects are due on Friday, May 23.  They should be saved on two CDs; you will NOT be able to save them on Tuesday, the day of your exam.

8TH WEEK OF 4TH QUARTER

Friday, May 9, 2008

Final Project:  This is the last class periods left to finish your game.  Next Tuesday, we begin to show senior games.  By Friday, you must have your game saved on two CDs.  If you wait until Tuesday, the day we begin playing the games, your game will be considered late.  I will provide a list of the order for games on Friday.  Understand, that if you are not ready to go at the time of your presentation on Tuesday, or Thursday, it is considered late.  After Thursday, I will NOT preview any senior games.  If you have not shown your game by Thursday of next week, it results in a zero grade for both the semester and the quarter.  Remember:  the actual showing of your game is the semester exam.  This is the point that we will see if your game functions via directions given.

The order of presentation is listed.  Click on the link to access the list.

7TH WEEK OF 4TH QUARTER

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Grading of Project:  If you are a senior (will count the same for juniors as well), your grade will count in two areas:  4th quarter grade as well as your final exam.  Your PowerPoint will count toward your 4th quarter grade, and your presentation of your game will count as your final exam (if you are not taking final exams, you still need to present, otherwise this will effect your grade for 4th quarter. )  I can not excuse anyone from the taking the final unless you meet all the requirements.

Game PowerPoint:  You should be working on your game powerpoint.  In regards to music, your music should go on each question as people ponder the answer.  Don’t forget to add sounds like applause, etc. to your PowerPoint.  When you have finished your game, make sure you have a couple of people play the game so that you can work on any bugs or errors in the program.  Make sure you check every slide so that the slides move to the correct places.  Also, make sure that you check your requirements for your PowerPoint, so that you do not lose points for not including information or for not following directions.

5TH WEEK OF 4TH QUARTER

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Audacity:  Each one of you will receive a head set with a microphone at the beginning of class. When class is finished each time we meet, you are to put your headsets back inside the box for the next class. You are responsible for your headsets.  If you break it by accident, let me know.  However, if you turn them in with anything wrong with them, and you have not told me about it, you will have to pay for them.

Today, we are going to learn how to add voice overs into our PowerPoints.  You most definitely need your USBs.

Game Project:  You should be working on your game project.  Remember:  you need to show me your worksheets from your teacher before starting your game.  Worksheets are worth 50 points. If you have not asked a teacher for class material, then I have a few that can be done for my sister.  Remember:  you can even ask teachers at the jurnior high or grade school.  Also remember to make good use of your time.  Your game will take quite awhile, so do not waste time.  I expect excellent games.

3rd WEEK OF 4TH QUARTER

Thursday, April 3, 2008

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Game:  We will start this in class.  We might be able to finish a short version so that next Monday, you can start working on your own personal game.  The first step is to contact a teacher to find out if you can create a game for them for a particular unit or chapter.  Make sure the chapter or Unit is long enough so that you have a lot of information to put on the game.  The second step is to decide what type of game you want to create.  You can use Jeopardy or Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, or any other game that you feel would be good to work on.  The third step is to show me your worksheets that you are going to use to make your game.  This is worth 50 points.  The game is the major project of this quarter.  It is worth 300 points.  Understand, that this is the major part of your entire grade for the semester.

The game is due before seniors leave (if you are a senior); otherwise, you have until the week before quarter ends to get everything finalize.  Remember:  don’t waste time.  I expect top-notch game projects.  I have music for Jeopardy and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.  When you are ready to insert music, just let me know.

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

Class Jeopardy Game:  We will finish up the game today.  On Thursday, we will begin working on Class Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

Make sure you have talked to a teacher about doing a game for them for extra credit.  If you have not done so, please do this quickly.

2ND WEEK OF 4TH QUARTER

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Final Project from 3rd Quater:  It must be turned in to me no later than Thursday, March 20.  Otherwise you will receive a zero.

Game PowerPoint:  We will continue working with our jeopardy game powerpoint today.

1ST WEEK OF 4TH QUARTER

Wednesday, March 11, 2008

3rd PowerPoint:  Last day to show.

Final Project:  We will be putting together a game in PowerPoint.  You will need to talk with one of your teachers to find out if you can put together a review game for one of their classes.  Some teachers will even give you extra credit points for doing this.  We will not be starting the game for awhile, so you have time to ponder who you will ask.  We will do a few short games in class before you venture out on your own.

Monday, March 10, 2008

3Rd PowerPoint:  We need to save our PowerPoints to a CD.  We will do this as a class.  We do NOT want to burn the Cd.  Then we will show our PowerPoint.  You need to create two CD’s.  If you are sending it out to a non-profit organization, then you will need three.
